In October 2007 the last of the three major story books depicting the HMI was realised. These story books contain the information needed to program the Human-Machine-Interfaces of the GOOD ROUTE System.
Each of the following user groups will be given a specific User Interface, allowing the GOOD ROUTE system to fit optimally into different work routines:
Based on the previously gathered needs of the different user groups and the technical outlines of the GOOD ROUTE system it was possible to define the user actions that would be necessary to complete the use cases. Additionally, a warning and information strategy was developed for each user group. Those user actions and the warning and information concept were transformed into a consistent HMI concept, while taking into account existing usability guidelines.
In February 2008, the HMI concepts will be tested by representative users. The test results will be used to optimise the Human-Machine-Interfaces before the field test of the GOOD ROUTE system.
The next meeting was initially planned for 27 and 28 of November 2007 in Alba (Italy), while a technical workshop was also scheduled in Turin on November 26.
The GOOD ROUTE Project Plenary Meeting was held December 13th & 14th in Alba, Italy. The meeting he meeting was designated to plenary presentations about past and ongoing tasks within the Work Packages and focused especially on the integration activities of GOOD ROUTE.
The workshop held on the first day, focused on the integration aspects and testing of the GOOD ROUTE system. Turin was chosen as the meeting place as it is close to the Frejus tunnel, that is one of the GOOD ROUTE test sites.

The GOOD ROUTE project kicked off!
The GOOD ROUTE (Dangerous Goods Transportation Routing, Monitoring and Enforcement) project has officially started its activities with a kick-off meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece 27-28 February
The ambition of GOOD ROUTE is the development of a system that will minimize the societal risks related to the movements of vehicles that transport dangerous goods, while it will still generate the most cost efficient solution for all actors involved in the logistic chain.
GOOD ROUTE will develop one demonstrator vehicle to show its concept. The prototype will be tested in three pilot sites Europewide in order to evaluate the reliability, usability, successfulness and cost-efficiency and thus estimate the potential safety impact and viability.
Main results from the kick-off meeting are:
